SPARK is proud to announce that SPARK scholars Dean Felsher & Arvin Gouw of Bacchus Therapeutics, Mehrdad Shamloo & Tereza Moore of Evvia Therapeutics, Kyuho Han of MEDIC Life Sciences have all won 2020 Golden Tickets at MBC BioLabs! The Golden Tickets provide lab bench space and access to facilities at the MBC BioLabs life sciences incubator.

Bacchus Therapeutics, which won one year of lab space through the 2020 AbbVie Golden Ticket, is targeting lipogenesis for a novel treatment for cancer. The startup is developing novel compounds that exploit cancer’s hypermetabolic state.

Evvia Therapeutics is developing a small molecule activator to treat mitochondrial disorders. The startup gets one year of lab space.

MEDIC Life Sciences, which is refining drug targeting to maximize success in clinical trials, will move into MBC BioLabs in San Carlos early next year for 6 months.

Resident companies at MBC BioLabs also include CuraSen and Eidos, both founded by SPARK scholars.

In addition, MBC BioLabs just opened a new facility in San Carlos, which is closer to Stanford campuses than the incubator’s site in San Francisco. SPARK is looking forward to building a relationship with MBC BioLabs to develop and grow early stage biomedical companies and help bridge the gap from bench to bedside.
