Posted on November 7th, 2023
SPARK is thrilled to share that the 2nd edition of the trusted and comprehensive book on academic drug development is now available electronically! “A Practical Guide to Drug Development in Academia: The SPARK Approach” is written by SPARK’s experienced and dedicated advisors and edited by SPARK co-directors Daria Mochly-Rosen and Kevin Grimes. Updated with the latest developments since the 2014 1st edition, this book is a must-have for academic translational scientists.
Dr. Mochly-Rosen, founder and co-director of SPARK at Stanford, shares more about the book here, including the impetus to write and update the book, its purpose and contents:
Dr. Mochly-Rosen shares how she and her students and fellow were unprepared to start a company and develop a therapy for patients.
“We never taught them, and I never learned, what is it that industry actually does, and what are the skills that one needs to hone on before actually embarking on this very very difficult path to translate early discoveries to a product that benefits patients.”
The electronic book is now available at Springer Nature. A hardcopy version of the book will be available soon.
